My learning manifesto is built with the thought each student has the ability to learn. No matter what the academic concept of acquiring understanding may hold, we hold that it is self-evident everyone can learn. From watching students grasp the concept of a game or the next dance, we, as a people can teach and learn. We accept this reality as teachers, and sometimes, as students the threshold of wanting to do the unthinkable. The paramount thing we are given in life is our willingness to be a great. The innate drive of what we want to share with others can either drive you insane due to fluctuated understanding trying to conceptualize it or those around you who cannot understand your passion driving you to constantly not be satisfied until you reach perfection. My passion is embedded in finding how to make the next generation develop an appetite to live beyond their borders of self to have a global understanding of what this life has to offer if just develop a passion. I want this group to embrace what is beyond the human understanding and ask questions to develop a deeper knowledge of identity. My desire an educator is to constantly learn as much as possible to foster hope within each person I make contact with. Ideally, no student should ever feel as if their reality is so dim, and not see the brightness of their future. This passion is intrinsic seeing change within students, daily planting hope for tomorrow, will translate new beginnings through digital learning, classroom interactions, and modeled behavior.
Digital learning has faced some issues since the use of technology has become a staple in the classroom. One of those issues deals with how to effectively implement digital learning. Teachers who tend to stray away from using technology whether because the lack of training, too much training, or a push back to technology in general. This is not a local or regional aspect that is happening; however, there are similar concerns throughout the state, nation, and throughout the world. This should actually be an opening of growth happening with all students and teachers to build knowledge with adding tech; the student achievement gap should be reduced. We have to continue to build our understanding of how to effectively grow education with tech support.
Education is a field filled with people who truly have intentions to be the best versions of themselves and share that with the rest of world through teaching. The role of teacher is truly a calling to be able share knowledge with the next generation and build them up for the wave of understanding. Educationis not in a good place right now for the student or the teacher. The teacher’s voice is the most underappreciated and criticized for testing and student growth.Teachers are continually held hostage to a curriculum with limited to no advancement of growing the client: the student. Teachers are also given the task of preparing every industry for their future workforce; however, teacher pay is constantly one of the least in salary comparably to the standard of impact to society. The best way to improve the educational model is to grow, there should be a way for that company to compensate the teachers, parents, and the students for focus on the student and not the profit of education. Teachers should be an equal partner in the learning process along with the students. Education should use the summer to update the curriculum for students by using summer school as a testing ground for what works, and update schools based upon the data. If states and districts partner with a company and the product is not effective helping the student, there should be some form of penalty similar to when corporations destroy the environment. Let teachers teach and hold parents accountable. Be smart enough to review what was effective in the past and incorporate future skills to support growth.
My core belief about digital learning is to give all students an opportunity to be successful by using the latest technology with the best practices to help our students be successful. I want to teach the latest techniques to give my students access to what will be the changing component for tomorrow. I can say that Alief is an organization committed to developing their teachers to be a part of leading education in digital earning from in-house training to reaching out to meet the needs of staff with education across the state.
